What is ProtoGenie?
ProtoGenie™ is a web based authoring toolkit for scientists and researchers for the design and execution of research protocols online. ProtoGenie is also the first online process designer specifically engineered for research design and data collection. While there is abundant computer support for statistics and data analysis, there is negligible computer support for designing research and automating the collection of data. ProtoGenie's Visionary Design
ProtoGenie early anticipated trends in software development and deployment and designed tools for building modularized research design and data acquisition software on the Web for implementation on the Web. Today, ProtoGenie's visionary design is part of a virtual revolution in the software industry. The ONLY way to achieve the novelty and diversity necessary in science to solve complex 21st century problems is through inexpensive widely distributed and networked (bottom-up) research by individual researchers and small research labs in institutional settings, schools, small businesses, and in homes. This means that effective and inexpensive research design and data collection software must be available to even the smallest research operation. ProtoGenie provides this support at no charge, but it costs money for technical support and on-going development. ProtoGenie Integrates Data Analysis
ProtoGenie is currently integrating data analysis with features including - Fingertip access to online statistical tools; Guidance and online tools for statistical analyses based on research design; Statistical tools and guidance for the statistical analysis of secondary data; Support for on-the-fly statistical analyses to support exploratory experiments and diagnosis; Easily modifiable templates for on-going organizational evaluation.
New Form Format Feature
In addition to the default presentation of one event per page ProtoGenie now enables the presentation of multiple events (such as questions) on a single page. This includes the presentation of treatment stimulus, such as a photographs, and measurements, such as a series of questions, on the same page. For details see Form Format under the Help Section.
